At the core of Nami’s character is someone who cares for her crewmates more than anything else (even money) because the whole Arlong arc was abt her realizing that she no longer has to fight or be alone.

From what I can see, most Nami haters dislike her mainly for being unfair on the male crew members, always hitting them, etc. While I agree that irl a person like this is practically sexist and annoying, keep in mind Nami’s place as a character. Not having superior physical prowess, she had learnt to survive on her own by being sneaky and taking advantage of her enemies. We can also see this in Robin but she doesnt need to utilize manipulation as much due to her devil fruit.

Nami’s role in the crew is not only a genius in her field (like Sanji, Robin, Chopper, Franky are), but the voice of reason and a crucial brain of the ship (being the most knowledgeable in how to command a ship). Her hitting her friends and charging them money is just a comedic bit, a nothing-bickering u’d see in normal friend groups. I mean come on, she manages finance and buys clothes for the crew, they’re practically family, why would a fine actually matter to a crew member?😭It’s all tough love man, there has to be a smart person keeping control of all the stupidity in Luffy’s crew somehow, and her methods being physical and money-related just fits with the authentic vulgarity of pirates.
